Targets and Touches: Week 15 AFC Targets/Touches

Targets and Touches will only have players’ six most recent games, regardless if they were active or on a bye. The data will be in descending order of games played.

All targets and touches data is compiled from Pro Football Reference.

Note: if a player has an asterisk next to a number in their data set, that indicates the player was injured during the game. Also, this data will stick to fantasy relevant players meaning that running backs and wide receivers that only see one target or touch per-game will not be included.

Just as a reminder, the NFC targets and touches report comes out every Wednesday.

Analysis:Jeremy Butler” saw the most targets in Week 14 for the Jimmy Clausen-led Ravens against the Seahawks. That last sentence is just a microcosm of how the 2015 season has gone in Baltimore.

Buffalo Bills

Targets: Sammy Watkins (8, 7, 6, 10, 3, 12), Charles Clay (1, 6, 3, 8, 7, 2*), LeSean McCoy (2, 5, 10, 5, 0, 7), Robert Woods (1, 7, 9, 9, 5, 7), Karlos Williams (0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0)

Analysis: LeSean McCoy’s “revenge game” in Philadelphia started off well. He ran for 63 yards on his opening 12 first half carries, averaging over five yards a pop; he then came back in the second half and turned his eight carries in to just 11 yards.

Here are Sammy Watkins’ last three PPR weekly finishes: WR5, WR12, and WR17. He’s seen double-digit targets in two of his last three games and has 27.4% of his teams’ targets during that span.

Cincinnati Bengals

Targets: A.J. Green (6, 7, 12, 8, 6, 9), Tyler Eifert (6, 7, 3, 4*, 0, 2*), Jeremy Hill  (1, 3, 0, 1, 1, 2), Giovani Bernard (1, 8, 10, 3, 1, 5), Marvin Jones (6, 9, 9, 5, 5, 8), Mohamed Sanu (3, 2, 3, 1, 1, 5)

CBs Thrown At: Dre Kirkpatrick 6, 6, 3, 11, 7, 10 (3-19, 1-14, 3-62, 6-34, 4-33, 7-71) and Adam Jones 1, 5, 6, 4, 10, 3 (3-25, 4-28-1, 2-41, 5-44, 6-61, 3-19) – Inactive in Week 14

Analysis: A.J. McCarron’s target distribution after Andy Dalton (fractured thumb) left the game and did not return in Week 14: A.J. Green (8), Marvin Jones (7), Mohamed Sanu (5), Gio Bernard (4), Jeremy Hill (2). Green converted his eight targets into 5-115-1 against burnable Steelers cornerback, Antwon Blake. Green gets a ‘Niners secondary that ceded 10-137 to Julio Jones in Week 9, 4-48-2 to Tyler Lockett in Week 11, 10-66 and 5-99 to Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown in Week 12, 4-85 to Alshon Jeffery in Week 13, and 8-107 to Brian Hartline in Week 14.

Cleveland Browns

Targets: Travis Benjamin (5, 6, 11, 13, 2*, 7), Gary Barnidge (11, 7, 8, 11, 8, 7), Duke Johnson (2, 2, 4, 6, 4, 1), Isaiah Crowell (2, 4, 2, 0, 1, 1)

RB Touches: Isaiah Crowell (11, 13, 7, 7, 12, 21) and Duke Johnson (3, 5, 8, 12, 9, 14)

Red zone Targets: Gary Barnidge (2, 1, 3, 1, 0, 3), Travis Benjamin (0, 1, 3, 3, 0, 0), Duke Johnson (0, 1, 0, 1, 0, 1)

Red zone Carries: Isaiah Crowell (1, 1, 2, 2, 0, 6) and Duke Johnson (0, 2, 0, 2, 0, 1)

CBs Thrown At: Tramon Williams 13, 7, 5, 4, 4, 7 (5-69-1, 2-25, 3-67, 4-122-1, 4-56) and Charles Gaines 6, 7 (4-48-1, 3-35)

Analysis: Gary Barnidge has proven that he is essentially quarterback-proof (as weird as that may sound), but he continues to produce regardless of who is at the helm in Cleveland. He finished as the TE3 (PPR) in Week 14 with Johnny Manziel at the controls and has finished as a top-10 scorer at the position in five of his last six games.

Denver Broncos

Targets: Emmanuel Sanders (11, 4, 0, 9, 8, 6), Demaryius Thomas (7, 10, 8, 13, 6, 14), Ronnie Hillman (0, 4, 1, 1, 1, 9), C.J. Anderson (2, 1, 2, 4, 1*, 0), Owen Daniels (9, 5, 5, 6, 3, 4), Vernon Davis (1, 4, 6, 2, 3, 9)

RB Touches: Ronnie Hillman (7, 11, 22, 15, 19, 19) and C.J. Anderson (8, 3, 14, 19, 8, 0)

Red zone Targets: Demaryius Thomas (2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 3) Emmanuel Sanders (0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1), Owen Daniels (1, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1), Ronnie Hillman (0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 2), Vernon Davis (0, 1, 1, 0, 1, 1)

Red zone Carries: Ronnie Hillman (1, 2, 4, 1, 2, 2) and C.J. Anderson (0, 0, 1, 2, 0, 0)

CBs Thrown At: Chris Harris Jr. 5, 5, 2, 3, 2, 6 (5-91, 2-2, 2-14, 3-26, 1-10, 2-29), Aqib Talib 1, 4, 3, 3, 6, 5 (1-3, 0-0, 3-79, 1-5, 4-41, 2-12), Bradley Roby 5, 5, 3, 5, 2, 6 (4-23, 4-60, 1-2, 4-36, 1-16, 3-23)

Analysis: C.J. Anderson (ankle) was active in Week 14, but he didn’t play a single snap against Oakland. Ronnie Hillman was in on 55-of-80 possible snaps and turned his 12 carries against a stout Raiders run defense into just 20 yards rushing. Demaryius Thomas has proven to find a usable floor with Brock Oswelier at the helm – he has three “WR2” (top-24) scoring weeks in Oswelier’s four starts – but just hasn’t been able to turn his targets into a ceiling at any point this season.

Houston Texans

Targets: DeAndre Hopkins (11, 11, 12, 8, 9, 6), Nate Washington (6*, 5, 6, 4, 11, 4), Cecil Shorts (0, 7, 5, 4, 10, 3), Alfred Blue (5, 1, 3, 1, 0, 0), Jonathan Grimes (3, 1, 3, 1, 2, 2), Chris Polk (2, 0, 0, 1, 1, 2)

RB Touches: Alfred Blue (19, 13, 24, 17, 4, 0), Chris Polk (9, 4, 0, 7, 13, 13), Jonathan Grimes (2, 7, 9, 8, 7, 9)

Red zone Targets: DeAndre Hopkins (1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0), Cecil Shorts (0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 1), Nate Washington (0, 0, 2, 0, 1, 1), Jonathan Grimes (0, 0, 1, 0, 1, 0), Alfred Blue (0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0)

Red zone Carries: Alfred Blue (2, 0, 2, 2, 2, 0, 0), Chris Polk (1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0), Jonathan Grimes (0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1)

CBs Thrown At: Johnathan Joseph 8, 9, 4, 5, 2, 5 (5-42, 6-57, 2-13, 4-24, 1-53, 4-32) and Kevin Johnson 3, 5, 8, 8, 5, 2 (1-12, 4-37, 4-59-1, 4-53, 3-58-2, 2-5)

Analysis: Through Week 1-11, DeAndre Hopkins led all receivers in targets (135; 13.5 per-game). Since then (Week 12-14), Hopkins has 23 targets (7.7 per-game). Hopkins owned a 31.7% target share in Week 1-11, which has since dropped to 24.5% in the last three weeks.

Indianapolis Colts

Targets: T.Y. Hilton (7, 6, 4, 12, 5, 7), Donte Moncrief (7, 4, 8, 9, 1, 10), Frank Gore (3, 3, 5, 3, 5, 5), Andre Johnson (8, 3, 2, 3, 3, 5), Dwayne Allen (3, 3, 1, 4, 1, 3), Coby Fleener (11, 6, 5, 3, 8, 4), Dan Herron (3, 2)

RB Touches: Frank Gore (25, 29, 19, 21, 16, 17) and Dan Herron (5, 6)

Red zone Targets: T.Y. Hilton (0, 0, 0, 3, 1, 0), Andre Johnson (2, 0, 0, 1, 1, 0), Donte Moncrief (0, 0, 3, 1, 0, 0), Dwayne Allen (0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1), Frank Gore (0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 2), Coby Fleener (5, 0, 0, 0, 2, 0)

Red zone Carries: Frank Gore (0, 5, 0, 2, 3, 3)

CBs Thrown At: Vontae Davis 5, 10, 5, 11, 5, 2 (3-27, 3-46-1, 4-12-1, 6-108, 2-30, 0-0), Greg Toler 9, 8, 10, 8, 9 (4-74, 5-103, 5-115-1, 6-49, 6-93-1) – Inactive in Week 14, Jalil Brown 6 (4-58-1)

Analysis: Andrew Luck (kidney) is “unlikely” to play in Week 15 against the Texans, meaning the Colts will turn to either Matt Hasselbeck once again (if he’s healthy) or Charlie Whitehurt at quarterback. At least T.Y. Hilton has finished as a “WR2” (top-24) receiver in two of his past three games.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Targets: Allen Robinson (11, 11, 7, 12, 15, 4), Allen Hurns (8, 9, 4, 9, 0, 4), T.J. Yeldon (3, 6, 4, 5, 4, 1*), Julius Thomas (8, 5, 8, 11, 5, 7)

RB Touches: T.J. Yeldon (6, 23, 17, 13, 19, 12)

Red zone Targets: Allen Robinson (0, 4, 0, 3, 5, 1), Allen Hurns (0, 1, 0, 3, 0, 1), T.J. Yeldon (0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0), Julius Thomas (1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2)

Red zone Carries: T.J. Yeldon (1, 2, 2, 0, 4, 0)

CBs Thrown At: Aaron Colvin 8, 3, 9, 5, 1, 5 (6-64, 3-30-1, 5-51, 3-49, 1-17, 2-16) and Davon House 7, 12, 2, 6, 5,8 (4-75-1, 6-89-1, 1-9, 4-41-1, 3-75-1, 5-89)

Analysis: As it stands right now, T.J. Yeldon (sprained knee) looks unlikely to suit up in Week 15. That means Denard Robinson will likely get a spot-start against the Falcons at home. Per Rich Hribar, Robinson finished as the (PPR) RB11, RB19, RB9, RB7, RB33, and RB33 in his starts in 2014 on a much worse Jags’ offense. Robinson should be the number one waiver pickup for Week 15.
